Both were music students at the Eastern Mediterranean University where they collaborated together to produce this stunning ensemble. Our repertoire ranges from classical music, Spanish guitar, & tango, to early jazz music from the 1930's, 40's, and 50's. The early jazz music we perform includes voice, capturing the styles of Anita O'Day, Rita Reys, and Ella Fitzgerald.

I have been studying the impact and influence of positive and negative energies, and also playing with chakra colors to portray different feelings. I am influenced by my surroundings greatly; often I will look through photos I have taken on hikes around the desert and realize how much they influence my work. DESCRIPTION:Leila Lopez has been compared to the likes of Ani Difranco and Fiona Apple. Her original finger picking style and poetic lyrics have captivated listeners both locally and nationally.    Leila grew up in Tucson Arizona, surrounded by a musical family and slowly began to cultivate a passion towards music at an early age. Encouraged by her family, Leila began to play Guitar when she was eight years old, and eventually moved on to learn the bass guitar, piano, cello, drums, banjo and mandolin.    Leila's music was recognized in 2008 during the Tucson Area Music Awards (TAMMIES) receiving an award for best female vocalist, and again in 2009 winning in both the female vocalist category, as well as an award for best folk artist.  In 2010 she won best female vocalist, best songwriter as well as best new release for her newest album Fault Lines.    Leila has been working on a new album and playing out extensively in Tucson Arizona and the surrounding area.

The early jazz music we perform includes voice, capturing the styles of Anita O'Day, Rita Reys, and Ella Fitzgerald.

DESCRIPTION:Stephen Budd Live Music Friday 17 February     Singer/songwriter Stephen Budd was born in England, raised in Ohio and now lives in Tucson . Performing as a solo artist, playing sets of his own songs, at coffeehouses, clubs and folk festivals, Stephen has performed over 1400 times in the Midwest and Southwestern United States.         Similar in style to Richard Thompson, Elvis Costello, Tracy Chapman, Lucinda Williams, Shawn Colvin, Michael Penn, Chris Isaak and other song-focused writers, Stephen’s style draws from both his early exposure to the Beatles and also the music he grew up with (the Clash, the Cars and the California and English punk of the late 70’s/early 80’s.)     His desire as an artist is to create songs that connect and touch people personally, by evoking images and situations that are similar to their own experiences.

SUMMARY:Carmen R. Sonnes Opens at Delectables
DESCRIPTION:Come join us on 29 January, 5pm - 11pm.  Carmen R. Sonnes art will be featured and we will have live music by Duo Vibrato.    If my paintings could speak --- and sing--- they would speak and sing in Spanish.    I was born and raised on the Texas-Mexico border, literally a couple of miles north of that huge divide, the Rio Grande. My childhood and early years influence my artwork greatly.  My mother was a midwife and I and my two sisters were her faithful assistants starting at age eleven or twelve. We witnessed lots of pain, joy, sorrow, and tenderness. The power of being woman and of giving life, as seen through my young girl eyes, affected me deeply and has influenced my art to this day.    I grew up with one foot in the Mexican culture and the other in the American culture and admired the great Mexican painters since first discovering them as a kid. My studies and a thirst for adventure took me to the Austin, Texas area where I discovered activism and the Chicano Art Movement. That launched me into a whole new world and fanned the flames of artistic passion. I never did go to art school, deciding in my youthful arrogance that it seemed like a big waste of time. My mother did not believe in organized religion and taught herself the skills of midwife. I suppose I learned the "just do it, already" attitude from her. I still look to Mexico for endless inspiration. Mexico was always a part of my reality. Traveling frequently to this impossibly beautiful and contradictory country keeps me engaged and fascinated. Now in my late forties, I have mellowed out but continue to discover new concepts, techniques, and possibilities in art every day.    http://carmenrsonnes.com    //
